The issue of nutrition of babies is quite complicated and contradictory. Hundreds of pediatricians devoted many articles and scientific papers on the topic of introducing complementary foods. Disputes about the advisability of the early “start” and the list of products are the subject of hot discussions among both doctors and parents.
What is recommended today?
In the days of our grandmothers, it was supposed to be very early on the beginning of artificial feeding. So, the first juices of the post -war years, began to try a couple of weeks after birth. This is largely due to the fact that mothers were forced to quickly go to work. Modern ideas about complementary foods based on a huge amount of research have changed significantly. Now pediatricians recommend starting from the moment when the first teeth erupted in the baby, that is, about 6 months.
It is advised to start with cereals or wiped vegetables: potatoes, zucchini, cabbage. Then meat dishes are added. The interval between the inclusion in the diet of a new product is at least 2 weeks. During this time, the baby’s body will have to get used to food, in addition, in the case of an allergic reaction, the mother will understand what is caused.
The first complementary foods can be prepared independently. For vegetables, use a blender, cereals can be wiped through a sieve. Another option is to buy ready -made baby food. But remember, you should start with half a teaspoon. So, be prepared for the fact that most portions in jars will go to mom.
