Many people dream of updating their bathroom, but not everyone immediately rushes to make a dream into reality. The general estimate here includes prices for masters’ services and prices for finishing materials. And if you can refuse to hire professionals by doing everything yourself, then the materials usually used to decorate bathrooms cannot be called cheap. However, at this point, estimates can be saved: a few years ago, a finishing material appeared on the market, which makes it possible to carry out economical, aesthetic and high -quality repair in the bathroom.
We are talking about plastic panels. If the place that needs repairs is a bathroom, the price of them and the operational characteristics of this modern material make it an excellent solution to the issue of decoration of the premises. Panel finishes will cost cheaper than lining the bathroom with good tiles, and in installation they are not at all complicated. Accordingly, to the one who has minimal repair skills, it is not at all necessary to spend money on the hiring of specialists. And one more plus of plastic panels – the finish gives them a chance to hide the pipe girdle room.
Installation technology of plastic panels in the bathroom
Step 1. Preparatory work
So, the bathroom is being repaired. Repair, the price of which is acceptable for a small family budget, is carried out using plastic panels. Where to start? From the cleaning of the walls from the old decoration, including from the layer of plaster. Getting rid of plaster is desirable, and in old houses it is necessary for the reason that it can give us several extra centimeters. If we take into account that the panels need a frame, removing the plaster – the path to preserving the previous size of the room.
Old metal pipes should be dismantled. First, to close the long-installed pipes with panels is undesirable. After all, they can flow. It is better to carry out wiring with metal -plastic or eco -plastic. The cost of repairing the bathroom increases slightly from this, but you are insured from serious expenses in the future. Secondly, the distance from old pipes to the wall is quite large. To close them with panels, you will have to reduce the useful area of the bathroom. And one more thing: before starting to install the frame, you need to decide on the places in which the wires will be displayed and the wiring is wiring.
Step 2. Installation of the frame
After the bathroom is prepared, the line of installation of the frame comes. For the installation of plastic panels in the bathroom, a frame made of metal profile, resistant to moisture, is best suited. Buy should buy a cd profile, the same as used for installation of drywall. How the frame is installed? The walls in the bathroom are marked vertically to fix metal racks. The distance between them should depend on the size of the panels, but not exceed 40 cm. Fixing brackets are attached to vertical markings. Here the gap can be made at 50-60 cm. Then the profile is taken and attached to brackets using small screws.
Step 3. Installation of panels
After installing the frame under the plastic panels, we proceed to the final stage – installation on the walls of the bathroom of the panels themselves. Plastic panels are fixed on the frame, while 25 mm screws are used. To mask the hats of self -tapping screws from above, they can be covered with overlays. So that the pads do not fall off with the slightest mechanical effect, it is advisable to lubricate them slightly from the inside with a special sealant. The joints of plastic panels also need sealing. For this purpose, you need to purchase a transparent silicone sealant.
In the corners of the panel, it is necessary to connect. This is done using an internal or external angular profile used to install the lining. In places of start and completion of panels, you can also use a similar profile, only it should be L-shaped. However, the lower part does not have to be inserted into a similar profile, since it will be closed by the skirting board.
As you can see, the process of installing panels is simple, you can cope with it without the participation of specialists in construction. Finally, give an important advice: if there is a dryer or radiator in the bathroom, install the heat reflector under them. This will protect plastic panels from deformation under the influence of too high temperatures.
