A major hurricane named Oscar has formed in the Atlantic Ocean, the US National Hurricane Center (NHC) reported on October 19.
A hurricane warning has been issued in the Bahamas due to Tropical Storm Oscar, which formed east of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
Oscar is located about 165 miles (265 km) east-southeast of the Bahamas and about 470 miles (756 km) east of Camaguey, Cuba. Maximum sustained winds there are 80 mph (129 km/h), Reuters reports.
Throughout Saturday, October 19, heavy rains continue in the Turks and Caicos Islands and the southeastern Bahamas, and will spread to eastern Cuba.
