Plastering work is considered one of the most important stages of cosmetic or major repairs. They are performed not only before the repair of the apartment, but also for insulation of the facade of the building, which is especially true in the case of negligence of the masons engaged in the construction of your house.
Two types of plastering work are distinguished – mechanized and manual. The first is characterized by a significantly greater rate of work, which allows you to reduce the time of repair. To save costs for materials and putty work, it is recommended to plastered the walls with plaster mixtures.
Gypsum and cement plaster of the walls have their own characteristics, so each of them has certain advantages and disadvantages.
So, gypsum plaster is different:
– relatively low weight. The production of gypsum plaster requires a large volume of water, therefore, leveling the walls of your apartment will require less gypsum mixture;
– the lack of the need for putty work before gluing the wallpaper;
– low thermal conductivity. A completely dried wall will be a warm touch;
– relatively quick drying. After a week, you can start the next stage of the wall decoration.
Cement plaster also has its advantages, including:
– increased strength;
– frost resistance and moisture resistance. The mixture on a cement basis can be used not only for finishing the walls of the room with any humidity level, but for plastering the external walls of the building.
Plaster facades is performed exclusively by cement mixtures.
It is believed that the cost of gypsum plaster is much higher than the cost of the cement mixture. Of course, if you compare the cost of the mixture bag, then this is really the case. But for applying a centimeter layer of plaster, 8-10 kgm2 will be needed. Therefore, the consumption of the gypsum mixture will be half.
In addition, there is an opinion that gypsum plaster is much more environmentally friendly than cement. But even in school lessons, chemistry was explained to us that cement is a neutral environment, and gypsum is a sour. It is not surprising that any metal elements of the wall (from banal self -tapping screw to a metal mesh) is “eaten” breathable and environmentally friendly. Cement will last more than one decade and fall off only in the process of dismantling.
