Since the beginning of 2024, 18 tourists have been killed by local gangs in the Bahamas, the US Embassy website reported.
“Retaliatory gang violence was the primary motive for the 2024 killings,” the statement from January 24 said.
The killings occurred even in broad daylight on the streets of both tourist and non-tourist areas. The US Embassy recommended that people exercise special caution in the eastern part of Nassau.
Tourists were also advised not to resist robbery and to remain vigilant and discreet at night.
